HON. J. W. FARLEY, Mayor of the city of Centerville; born in Hancock Co., Ill., in 1838; moved to Washington Co., Iowa, in 1839, with his parents and located in this county in 1871. Married Miss M. E. Badger in 1865; she was born in Ohio in 1832; their children are Effie M., Mamie M., Roy E. and J.W. Members of the M.E. Church; Republican. He was elected Mayor in 1875. Enlisted in the 13th Iowa V.I. in August 1861; wounded at Shiloh and discharged through diability, the effects of wounds; mustered out at Cincinnati, Ohio, July 22, 1862.
