Jesse M. Ellis, far., Sec. 17; Centerville; born Jan. 13, 1823, in Scott Co., Ky.; when an infant, came with his parents to Indiana, in 1854, to Van Buren County in 1855; moved to Appanoose County; owns 185 acres of land, valued at $25 per acre. Married Nancy Ellis in 1845; born in 1825, in Kentucky; have four children - Harriet E., Tabitha j., William B. and Michael J. Was elected County Supervisor in 1861 and served two years; has been Township Treasurer. Democrat.
