Rosamond Valesca Gordanier
Aug. 19, 1913 — Dec. 25, 2004

Rosamond Valesca Gordanier, 91, of Winona passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at Lake Winona Manor. She was born Aug. 19, 1913, in Pickrel, Neb., the daughter of Frederick C. and Frieda (Hennings) Eckstein and was baptized Sept. 7, 1913. Rosamond was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa, and joined Central Lutheran Church after moving to Winona in 1993.

Rosamond graduated from Waverly High School and Wartburg College, both in Waverly, Iowa. She taught music and commercial business classes in Postville, Iowa. She met Howard Gordanier; they married Aug. 3, 1947. They lived in Postville and owned and operated a dry cleaning establishment for 42 years. Howard died in 1985.

Survivors include two daughters, Beth (Darrell) Berge, Spring Lake Park, Minn., and Hope (Phillip) Anderson, Winona; five grandchildren, Greg (Heidi) Berge, Keely (Tom) Teynor, Maisi (John) Pedersen, Jordan Anderson and fiance Eric Gleason, and Blake Anderson; and one great-grandson, Jackson Berge.

She also is survived by two sisters, Geraldine Adix, Chisago City, Minn., and Loraine Dickinson, Brainerd, Minn.; one brother, Wallace (Arris) Eckstein, Newhall, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Murtis (Andrew) Smith, Waterloo, Iowa, and Violet (Robert) Sherburne, Sumner, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Carole Goff; sisters-in-law, Bernice McCaffrey and Opal Gordanier; and brothers-in-law, Herbert Adix, Bob Dalzell, Vernon Dickinson and Fred Goff.

A celebration of Rosamond's life will be held at Central Lutheran Church, 259 W. Wabasha St., Winona, on Wednesday,

Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jeff Franko will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, direct memorials to the Central Lutheran Church Concert Series. Martin-Myhre Funeral Home.
