Walter Teff

Walter L. Teff, 79, of Port Huron, Mich., died Wednesday, November 2, 2005, surrounded by family. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 5, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Simeon T. Iber officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Walter was born August 17, 1926, in Dorchester, Iowa, to Henry G. and Florence T. (Schwartzhoff) Teff. He graduated from Waukon Senior High. He married Marvis J. Olson March 18, 1961.

Walt served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of Detroit earning his B.B.A. He served for 13 years as Director of Business and Finance for the St. Clair County Intermediate School District and had over 20 years of experience as a financial executive in electronics and computer industries.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, B.P.O.E. #343 and Catholic Social Services where he served on the board of directors. He volunteered at United Way of St. Clair County and enjoyed his grandchildren, politics, gardening, and the Detroit Tigers.

He is survived by his wife, Marvis J. Teff of Port Huron; daughter, Catherine (Edward) Urban of Fort Gratiot; sons, Gregory (DeAnn) Teff of South Lyon, and Stephen Teff of Port Huron; a daughter, Susan (Richard) Rapp of Harrison Township; grandchildren Emily and Edward Urban, Patrick, Christopher, and Daniel Teff; and three sisters, Lucille Teff of Reno, Nev., Carol (Rodney) Shroyer of Reno, and Patricia Price of Waterford.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters.

Casketbearers were Patrick, Christopher, and Daniel Teff, Edward Urban, Richard Rapp, and Richard Rapp, Jr. Honorary casketbearers were Edward Urban and Dr. Victor Amato.

Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
