Richard Kelleher

Richard Patrick Kelleher, 43, of Lansing, Iowa, died Saturday, October 22, 2005, as a result of an auto accident in Allamakee County. Private family services were held Tuesday, October 25, with burial at Gethsemane Cemetery. Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home of Lansing assisted the family with arrangements.

Richard was born March 29, 1962, in Waukon, Iowa, to Donald and Mary (Steinhart) Kelleher. He graduated from Kee High School in 1980. He served in the U.S. Army from 1981 to 1986. Following his discharge, he joined Kelleher Construction with his father Don and took over ownership. He married Renee Davis in 1990.

Richard will be greatly missed by his family, numerous friends, and business associates with whom he so profoundly impacted. He was his family’s and community’s “go-to” guy.

Survivors include his wife, Renee; two children, Justin and Jessa, both at home; three sisters, Kelly (Roger) Reed of Milton, Wis., Donna (Louie) Bernabei of Roscoe, Ill., and Debbie (Rick) Huhn of Janesville, Wis.; his mother, Mary Kelleher of Lansing; three brothers-in-law, Randy Davis, Shawn Hutson, and Shannan Hutson; and his mother-in-law, Karen Hutson.

He was preceded in death by his father.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Kerndt Brothers Savings Bank in Lansing in Richard’s name.

ACCIDENT CLAIMS LANSING MAN SATURDAY
An early morning accident Saturday, Oct. 22 claimed the life of 43-year old Richard Kelleher of Lansing when he lost control of the pickup he was driving and it rolled on Highway 26, just one mile south of New Albin. Kelleher was heading south on the highway when his truck entered the ditch, returned to the roadway and then rolled.

The accident remains under investigation. A complete obituary for Kelleher appears on Page 5.
