Jack Frost

Jack Frost, 78, of La Crosse, Wis., died Tuesday, November 1, 2005, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 5, at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse. Rev. J. Taylor Haley officiated. Entombment with military rites was in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Woodlawn Cemetery. Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse was in charge of arrangements.

Jack was born March 6, 1927, in La Crosse to Fred “Andy” and Clara (Olson) Fiet and later adopted by Jesse and Beryl (Collins) Frost. Jack served with the US Navy during World War II.

He married Leonette “Lee” Pederson September 14, 1946, at Bethel Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Jack and Lee lived a very full life together. They enjoyed leisure time activities like boating on the Mississippi River from their cottage near Trempealeau to snowmobiling in the winter as far away as West Yellowstone Park in Montana. Having spent winter vacations in Florida for years, they finally bought a home in Bonita Springs in 1988. After Jack’s retirement in 1990, they spent winters there until 2002, when health problems prevented them from traveling so far. Jack had worked at Tausche’s Hardware Store for several years. He then worked as a bus driver for the City of La Crosse and as a city alderman for the 12th District for numerous years. He then worked as a Clerk of Circuit Court for La Crosse County until his retirement in 1990.

Jack was a member of the Roy Vingers American Legion Post 52, the Thomas L. Rooney VFW Post 1530, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1920, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1254. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends who all loved him very much.

Jack is survived by one son, Richard (Sharon) Frost of La Crosse; one daughter, Nancy (Al) Peaslee of La Crosse; four grandchildren, Bryan (Theresa) Frost, Michael Frost, Sarah Frost, and Karie Finn; a step-grandson, Zane Peaslee; a step-granddaughter, Rochelle Sullivan; a step-great-grandson, Reilly Sullivan; two sisters, Mary Lou Leidahl and Shirlee Livingood, both of Waukon, Iowa; and very special people in his life, the family of the late Vernon Triplett, which includes his wife JoAnn and their children, Trisha Miller and Tami Triplett.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife December 18, 2004, and his parents.
