Caroline Panncke, daughter of Fred and Mary (Brandenburg) Kahlstorf was born December 10, 1889 near Garnavillo, Iowa. She died December 30, 1976 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville at the age of 87 years.

She was baptized in October of 1889 and confirmed in April of 1905 in Lutheran faith at Garnavillo, Iowa. Mrs. Panncke was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

On June 2, 1909 she was united in marriage to Fred Panncke at Manly, Iowa. To this union two children were born. The couple farmed in Grand Meadow Township until they moved to Postville in 1940. Since 1962 Caroline has lived with her daughter west of Postville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1953, two brothers; Fred and Art, and one sister Hattie (Otto) Klinge.

She is survived by a son, Harold, a daughter, Ella Wilker, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one brother; Paul Kahlstorf of Mountain View, Arkansas, and three sisters; Amelia Schneider, Arizona, Ella (Frank) Fisher, Titonka, Iowa, and Selma (Willis) Lamker of Monona.

Pallbearers were Pete Dahms, Charles Schutte, Jr., Milton Schierholz, Harvey Landt, Robert Foels and Kenneth Wendel. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

*NOTE* Caroline Panncke was my husband, Brad Wilker's, great-grandmother. Caroline's daughter, Ella, is Brad's grandmother.
