Obituary– Jurgen Heinrich Renk

Jurgen Heinrich Wilhelm Renk was born at Erbsdorf, Lueneburg, Germany, May 10, 1851. In January 1875 he was united in marriage to Miss Dorothea Meyer, who preceded him in death six years ago. This union was blessed with five sons, one of whom met with an accidental death in 1900. In 1885, with his family, he came to America and settled in Union City township, which has been his home ever since.
Mr. Renk passed away at the farm home of his son August on Sunday, Oct. 16th, following a lingering illness. The deceased was well known in this community. In his death a kind and loving character has been removed from our midst. His home was ideal and through his suffering he bore his affliction, with befitting patience and fortitude, and now he has been called to reap the reward of a well spent life.
The largely attended funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 19, services being conducted by Rev. F. Bemberg at St. John’s Evangelical church, Wheatland, of which the deceased was a faithful member, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining the church.
Those left to mourn his death are: Four sons, William, Henry, August and Herman, all of Union City township; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; also a large number of friends mourn his departure.
