The funeral of Wm. Hirth, son of Peter Hirth of this city, and D. J. Wright, a half brother of the former, took place on Saturday. The ceremonies were in charge of the local M. W. A. Lodge, of which Wm. Hirth was a member. P. A. Wright, father and step-father of the boys, who is also a Woodman, gives the sad details of the boy's death as follows: William and Daniel were sawing down a big tree, which split and kicked back a distance of fourteen feet, striking the boys and crushing their bodies. They were found dead by their mother who had gone to look for them when her calls for dinner remained unanswered. Both parents then freed the bodies and brought them to New Albin, where they were laid to rest in one grave. "William was twenty-on years, two months and nineteen days, and Daniel nine years, eight months and six days old. Both were good boys and will be sadly missed by those left to mourn their untimely departure.
