NICHOLAS COLSCH
Waukon, Ia.-- Funeral services for Nicholas Colsch, 77, whose death occurred at a La Crosse hospital, were held Wednesday at St. Patrick's church. Burial with military honors took place in Oakland cemetery.

His entire life was spent in the vicinity. He served two terms as clerk of court of Allamakee county. On April 28, 1898, he enlisted for duty in the Spanish-American war serving as sergeant in the 49th infantry. He received his discharge on May 13, 1899. For 15 years he served as captain of Company I, Waukon's military organization.

Surviving are his widow and two brothers, Charles, Waukon, and Fred of Nebraska. A sister Katherine and brother John died the past year.

Captain Nicholas Colsch, 77, well known Waukon resident, and Spanish-American War veteran, passed away Monday at the Lutheran hospital in La Crosse, Wis., where he had been a patient the past few weeks. His wife is the former Jennie Wood of Ludlow township. Funeral services were held this morning in the Catholic church in Waukon.
