DEATH OF A.J. WILLIAMS FORMER COUNTY RESIDENT
Waukon relatives and friends were shocked Friday when news was received of the death of Andrew J. Williams of St. Paul, which took place at St. Joseph's hospital, St. Cloud, Mn. after a week's illness with pneumonia. Mr. Williams was in Waukon six weeks ago, attending the funeral of his sister-in law, Mrs. Anna Williams, and then appeared hale and hearty.
The deceased was born at Lansing July 29, 1867, and was the son of John and Mary Williams, pioneer residents of this county. He grew to young manhood on the farm near Lycurgus. He was united in marriage at Lansing June 17, 1890, with Miss Mary Rothermel. Two daughters were born to them and his wife died in 1901.
He moved to the Red River valley in Minnesota shortly afterward, and resided in Georgetown, Mn., Fargo, N.D., and later at St. Paul, where he was engaged in the real estate business. He was married to Catherine McArthur in Georgetown, Mn., in 1904, who survives him.
Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Agnes Holloran, and a sister, Mrs. J. M. McNamara of Des. Moines.
The remains were brought to Waukon Monday and the funeral took place Tuesday morning. A requiem mass was celebrated at St. Mary's church, Lycurgus, by the pastor, Fr. McNamara, and burial took place in the family lot in the cemetery beside the church.
The following old friends of the deceased served as pallbearers: Edward Teeling, Thomas Welch, Dan O'Malley, Thomas O'Malley, Charles McCauley, P.J. McCauley.
Out of town relatives attending the funeral were the bereaved wife and daughter, Mrs. Agnes Halloran, Frank Williams, Mrs. J. M. McNamara, Ester Speckeen and Mrs. Anna Herrman
