Rites Held For Mrs. Wm. Martens

Mrs. William F. Martens, nee Minnie Linderbaum, the daughter of Ludwig Linderbaum and Caroline Martens Linderbaum, was born in Germany on April 27, 1882. She was baptized in Germany in June of 1882 and confirmed in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on April 7, 1895. She died at the Community Memorial Hospital on May 9, 1965 at the age of 83 years and 12 days.

She was married to William F. Martens on February 8, 1901. To this union were born two daughters. The couple lived their lives together in the Postville area, moving to the town of Postville four years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Frieda, Mrs. James Enyart; one brother, Charles Linderbaum of Decorah; one sister, Mrs. Sophie Geiger of Postville; and two great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Emma, Mrs. Leo Dreier of Postville; one brother, Frank Linderbaum of Cresco; three sisters, Anna, Mrs. H. F. Althouse, Sr. of Postville, Louise, Mrs. Harry Lenth of Postville, and Emma, Mrs. Charles Manja of Postville; four grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville for over 70 years.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Postville, on Wednesday, May 12, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Postville Cemetery with the Rev. Charles E. Witt, officiating.
