Claud Moose

Claud Moose, 84, of Waukon, Iowa, died Thursday, June 30, 2005, at his home in Waukon, following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 3, at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Rev. Richard A. Iles officiating. Burial was held in Oakland Cemetery in Waukon. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements.

Claud Moose was born January 27, 1921, in Ludlow Township rural Waukon, the son of Gerald and Estella (Livingood) Moose. He attended rural country schools in Allamakee County. As a young man he farmed with his family in Allamakee and Clayton counties. He also started a milk route, which he later sold.

On October 14, 1950, he married Anna Mae Seitz in Monona. Claud and Anna Mae purchased a farm in Makee Township in the early 1960s. He did custom spraying for several area farmers for several years. Claud enjoyed coon hunting and raising coonhounds. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Charlotte Moose, Greg Moose, Marcia (Jim) Rush, Gloria Palmer, Jeff Moose, and Brad Moose, all of Waukon, and Stan (fiancee Stacey Bunnell) Moose of Conneaut, Ohio; a grandson raised by Claud, Mike Moose of Waukon; five grandchildren, Nathan and Lucas (Heather) Palmer, Hannah and Caleb Nuehring, and Christine (Scott) Klingeman; three great-grandchildren, Lance Palmer and Eston and Clayton Klingeman; and a brother, Hubert Moose of Waukon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Anna Mae, who died in 1983; four brothers, Milburn, Ralph, Hollis, and Gaylord Moose; and two sisters, Coral Klees and Eloise Welch.

Casketbearers were Wayne and Curt Welch, Kermit and Dan Klees, and Garry and Lyle Moose.
