Earl Fish

Earl L. Fish, 76, of Waukon, Iowa, died Thursday, June 30, 2005, at his home in rural Waukon, following a brief illness. Memorial services were held July 6 at St. Pius at Cherry Mound Catholic Church in rural Harpers Ferry, Iowa, with Fr. Louis Trzil officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with military graveside rites. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements

Earl LeRoy Fish was born June 7, 1929, in rural Monona, Iowa, the son of Peter and Emma (Huffman) Fish. He attended rural country schools in the Allamakee County area. Earl served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War.

On June 6, 1953, he married Dolores McCormick at St. Pius at Cherry Mound Catholic Church. Earl and Dolores farmed in the Linton Township. He owned his own semi truck, which he enjoyed driving and working on for many years. Earl also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing cards. He was a member of St. Pius at Cherry Mound Catholic Church and the Waukon VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores of Waukon; a son, Dave (Della) Fish of Waukon; four grandchildren, Dave Jr., Dale, and Abbie Fish, and Christy (Brad) O’Hare; four great-grandchildren, McKayla and Harley O’Hare and Jonathan and Ashley Fish; and a sister, Arlene Jones of Harpers Ferry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Fish; a granddaughter, Cathy Fish; and four brothers, Lawrence, Raymond, Leo, and Crayton.

Honorary casketbearers were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
