RONALD D. SNITKER

Services will be held later in Waukon, Iowa, for Ronald Darren Snitker, 19. He died Jan. 1 in Wasilla as the result of an auto accident.

Born May 25, 1967, in Waukon, he was in the Marine Reserves for the past five months, and an Alaska resident for the last 10 years.

He leaves his father and stepmother, Ronald E. and Katherine, of Anchorage; his mother, Kathleen Snitker of Big Lake; his maternal grandmother, Marge Van Horn of Waukon; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald J. Snitker of Waukon.

Darren Snitker, age 19 of Big Lake, Alaska died Thursday, January 1, 1987 in Palmer, Alaska of injuries received in an accident. Funeral services were held Wednesday January 7 at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Olson and Father Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, Casket bearers were Jim Corning, Kevin Snitker, Jerry Hirth, Mark Snitker, Jim Howes, and Randy Pausch.

He was born May 25, 1967 in Waukon, Iowa to Ronald E. and Kathleen (Van Horn) Snitker. He graduated from Wasilla High School in Alaska where he participated in hockey, basketball, wrestling, and was a member of a theatrical group. He had served five months in California in the Marine Corps Reserve. He had planned to further his education and training in sales and business management. He had lived in Waukon,Iowa, ten years in Houston, Texas, and nine years in Alaska.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donald Van Horn.

Surviving are his mother Kathleen Snitker, his father Ronald E. Snitker and step-mother Katherine Rush; paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ronald J. Snitker, and maternal grandmother Marge Van Horn, all of Waukon,Iowa. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins.
