Mrs. NORMAN (Dorothy Maria Boese) JOHNSON

A Memorial Service for Dorothy Johnson was held Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at 11:00 A. M. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Reverend James Allison officiated. Special music was provided by Joann Martins, organist and Karla Johnson, soloist. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Inurnment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Dorothy Marie Johnson was born February 19, 1929, at Postville, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Boese and Dorothy Freeman Boese. She passed away Saturday, December 27, 2003, in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa. She had reached the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 8 days. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. Dorothy attended the Postville Schools.

Dorothy was married to Norman Johnson on September 20, 1950, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union three children were born. In her early years, Dorothy worked at the Rima Cafe in Postville. For 21 years she was employed as a supervisor at the Iowa Turkey Products Plant.

Dorothy was a care-giver all of her life, having the responsibility for her siblings as well as for her own family. She also liked to go fishing, but above all to spend time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Loren and Peggy Johnson of Postville, Theresa Johnson of Kansas City, MO, and Eric and Karla Johnson, of Postville. Their are four grandchildren: Abigail and Kassandra Johnson, Kendra Johnson, and Nichole Peck and fiancé, Jared Klingeman, and one great grandson, Gavin Klingeman. Also surviving are three brothers, Edward (Jane) Boese of Davenport, IA, Donald Boese and Frank Boese of Waukon, IA, a sister, Katherine (Peter) Glick of Anamosa, IA; and three sisters-in-law, Virginia Boese, Frances Johnson, and Jean Kohler.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman, who died 1993, and four brothers, Robert Boese, Leo Boese, Harold Boese, and John Boese.

Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.
