In addition to farming, Ray hauled canned milk for 15 years and worked as a security guard for Northern Engraving in Waukon for over 30 years. Since 1989 Ray and Delores have lived in Waukon. Ray was a former council member at St. Luke's United Church of Christ where he was a lifelong member. He enjoyed traveling with his family throughout the country and particularly enjoyed spending his 80th birthday in Germany. He also liked fishing, baseball games, and was an avid reader.
