JOHN GEORGE BAREIS 1886-1952

Funeral services were held today at 1:30 from the home and at 2:00 o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for John G. Bareis, 66, who passed away at his home last Saturday. Burial will be in Postville cemetery. Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig is in charge of the rites.

Mr. Bareis was a life-long resident of the community. John George Bareis, son of George Bareis and Louise Engele Bareis, was born February 18, 1886, at Postville, and departed this life on November 8, 1952, at his late home at Postville, aged 66 years, eight months and 20 days.

Mr. Bareis was received into active membership in the Lutheran Church, also in the St. Paul's congregation of Postville. He was united in marriage with Adelia Dickman of Postville, on January 25, 1922, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. To this union three children were born, all of whom survive the passing of their father.

Mr. Bareis was a lifelong resident of the Postville community. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Bareis established their home on a farm east of Postville, now the Lowell Fox farm. About three years later Mr. and Mrs. Bareis moved to the present home farm, west of Postville, which continued as his home until death came to him.

Left to mourn his passing are his widow; three children: Willard, at home, Marjorie (Mrs. Freddie Miller) of Postville, and Arthur, in Korea; one grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Joe Duwe, of Postville; two brothers: Henry Bareis of Cresco, and William Bareis, of Castalia; as well as other relatives and friends.

Mr. Bareis was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mrs. Henry Knodt, and one brother, Fred Bareis.
