D. Burroughs Funeral Monday
The funeral of David Burroughs, 85, was held Monday morning from Lycurgus Catholic church, with the Rev. Father Robert Moran officiating. Rites were not held at St. Patrick's because of the forty hours' devotion in progress at that time. Burial was at Mt. Olivet, Waukon, with Bakke and Hanson funeral service in charge. Pallbearers were Carl Burroughs, William Burroughs, Gale Burroughs, Dale Radloff, Edward Helgeson and Norbert Helgeson.
Mr. Burroughs died at his Waukon home early Friday morning following a two weeks' illness caused by the infirmities of age. He was a native of Dubuque county, where he was born on March 20, 1872, son of Mary Duff and Stephen Burroughs. His father died in 1904 and his mother in 1906. He had lived in the Dorchester area until four years ago when he and his wife moved to Waukon. He and Mary Moller, who remains, were married at Dorchester Nov. 5, 1901.
Their children are Mary, now Mrs. Elmer Helgeson of Decorah; Richard of East Dubuque, Jerome of Dubuque, Alfred of Waukon, Garland of Lansing, Florence, now Mrs. Walter Radloff of Dubuque, Delbert of Bloomington, Ill.; Della, now Mrs. Gerald Just of Clarksfield, Minn.; Roland of East Dubuque; Annamae, now Mrs. James Waters of New Albin. There are 25 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. One sister and one brother also remain. They are Mrs. Sarah Sheriff of Lansing, and Ephriam Burroughs of Dorchester.
