MICHAEL CHRISTOPHER DEERING 1966-1983

Funeral services for Michael C. Deering were held Tuesday, January 11, 1983 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Reverend Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Michael Christopher Deering, son of Charles I. and Carol (Meyer) Deering, was born October 8, 1966 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, Iowa. He passed away January 9, 1983 at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wisconsin as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident which occurred January 1, 1983.

He was baptized November 6, 1966 and confirmed May 2, 1982, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

Michael was a sophomore at Postville Community Schools. He participated in football and was a member of FFA, Mixed Chorus, Boys Glee and the 4-H Club, Clermont Comets.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Irving Deering.

Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Charles F. and Craig E., both of rural Postville, three sisters, Mrs. Jay (Lori) Podzimek of Spokane, WA, Stacy L., a student at Wartburg College, Waverly, IA, and Lisa J. at home, his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Leeone Deering, maternal grandfather, Milo Meyer, maternal grandmother, Mrs. Charles (Bernice) Thomas, all of Postville, and maternal great grandfather, Gilbert Hanson of Waukon, IA.
