William H. Dell was born December 23, 1865 in Fountain City, Wisconsin. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in the town of his birth. In the year 1889, at Postville, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Meier. For a number of years he lived on a farm near Postville. From there he moved to a farm in South Dakota, and after staying there for several years, moved back to Iowa. His wife passed away in 1918.

After that he moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Cronn. Since the death of his daughter, Elsa, in April of 1954, he has been in a rest home at Sioux Falls.

He passed away at the Sioux Valley Hospital the morning of June 7, 1959, having attained the age of 93 years, five months, and 15 days.

His wife, and daughter Elsa, preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing: two sons, Ed Dell of Vancouver, Washington and William Dell of Flint, Michigan; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Interment was made in the Postville cemetery.
