Another Former Resident at Rest.
One by one the old-timers of Lansing are being gathered to the fathers and the remains brought to the old home for burial.

The latest to respond to the call of the Master is Mrs. Eva Fowler, who died at the Abbott hospital in Minneapolis, Thursday last, April 21st, at 4 a.m. She had been an inmate there for several weeks and death was caused by cerebral thrombosis.

Deceased was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and was 74 years and 29 days old at the time of her death. She was the second daughter of the late R. P. Spencer and Laura Camp and came with the family to Lansing in 1856.

In 1872 she married John B. Thorp, who died in the late '80's, a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Richards, now of Norwalk, Conn., and one son, Charles, being the fruit of this union. The son was drowned when grown to young manhood in this city.

In 1898 Mrs. Thorp became the wife of I. D. Fowler, who preceded her in death some six years ago. The daughter and an elder sister, Mrs. Sophronia Hover, accompanied the remains here Monday and the funeral was direct from the train, Rev. Bottom of the Federated Church, officiating.

The death of Mrs. Fowler leaves Mrs. Hover the sole survivor of the Spencer family, consisting of three girls and two boys, at one time among the most well-to-do and prominent people of this city. Mr. Spencer's brother was founder of the Hibbard, Spencer, Barlett wholesale hardware firm of Chicago, and R. P. was engaged in the same business here for years. Mrs. Hover, who is 77 years of age, will miss her sister most, as they were constant companions for the past fourteen years since the death of their mother in this city, living in South Dakota part of the time and for the past five years in Minneapolis. Her niece, who is best known here as Minnie Thorp, accompanied her to Minneapolis, yesterday, for a visit before returning East.
