ADAM FISHER

Adam Fisher was born in Bavaria, Germany, Dec. 8, 1832, and died at his home in Austin, Minnesota Aug. 22, 1906, in his 74th year, after four months of intense suffering from cancer of the stomach.

He came to this country in 1858, settling first at Ottawa, Ill. where he remained for a short time. In 1862 he enlisted in Co. E. 27th Iowa Regiment and served three years in the Civil War, during which he was wounded in the right leg, and arm, and came home on crutches. In 1865 he settled at Clayton, Iowa. He was married to Barbara A. Arett July 7, 1867, in Grant County, Wis. The family resided in Clayton for five years, removing in 1872 to a farm southeast of Postville. In 1892 they moved on a farm 6 1/2 miles northeast of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota and in 1903 moved to Austin to reside. At the time of his death he was a member of McIntyre Post G.A.R.

He is survived by his wife and seven children, Henry G., of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; Mrs. Lizzie Eberling of Postville, Iowa; Emma; Samuel J.; Eli; Lena and Mrs. Jas. Lode of Austin, Minnesota. He also leaves 11 grandchildren.

The funeral was held from the Lutheran Church at Austin at two o'clock on Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Rowland. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
