Mrs. WILLIAM (Cora French) Lennon FOELS 1886-1973

Services were held in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monday, July 16, at 10:30 a.m. for Cora Lennon Foels who died at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville July 12, [1973]. The Rev. Norman Ullestad officiated.

Cora French, the daughter of Harvey and his wife Orpha Payne French, was born in Post township, Postville, Iowa, October 8, 1886. On September 4, 1904 she was united in marriage to Elmer J. Lennon of Decorah. The couple had three children, Sarah, Howard and James. She spent the greater portion of her married life in the Decorah-Postville area.

Cora was received into membership of St. Paul Lutheran Church by adult baptism and was confirmed February 13, 1927 by Rev. F. R. Ludwig. She remained a faithful member of the church, was an Honor Roll member of the Lutheran Church Women and was also a member of Rebekah Lodge #48, Postville.

After the death of her husband Elmer, she was united in marriage September 16, 1948 to William H. Foels of Postville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey French; three sisters, Etta Dundee of Luana, Jane Stader of Seattle, Washington and Lydia Myran of Decorah; five brothers, Charles, Tom, James, LeRoy and John, and both husbands.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Francis (Evelyn) Jagerson of Yoakum, Texas; a daughter, Sarah, (Mrs. Ed Nelson), Postville; two sons, Howard E. Lennon of Bettendorf and James M. Lennon of Clermont; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Interment was in the Postville cemetery.
