Mrs. DAYTON (Mildred Irene Warnock) GODDARD 1911-1989

Mildred Irene Goddard, daughter of Jefferson Clark and Maude (McFarlan) Warnock, was born May 24, 1911, at Thronburg, Iowa. She passed away July 7, 1989 in University Hospitals at Iowa City, Iowa.

She was graduated from high school at Thornburg, Iowa with the class of 1929 and attended the Iowa Success Business School at Ottumwa, Iowa for one year. She was employed at Wake's Feed Store in Oskaloosa from 1930 to 1938.

On March 5, 1938 she was married to Dayton Eugene Goddard at Des Moines, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born. They lived in the Oskaloosa and Sigourney areas and moved to Postville in 1951. In 1956 they built their present home on West Greene Street. After the death of her husband in 1963, Mildred was employed as a housemother for the Alpha Delta Phi sorority in Iowa City for fourteen years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dayton, who died July 5, 1963, and a brother who died in infancy.

Surviving are two daughters, Susanne Eilers of Seattle, Washington and Geri and her husband, Fred Brandt, of Atlantic, Iowa, four grandchildren, Jeffrey Brandt, Matthew Brandt and his wife, Mary, Beth Ann Brandt, and her husband, Donald Penningroth, of Wellman, Iowa and Doris Marie Peiffer of What Cheer, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and the UPW, and also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Rebekkah Lodge, and the Senior Citizens Club.

Interment: Postville Cemetery.
