OPAL ELAINE DAILA GORDANIER

Opal Elaine Daila Gordanier was born September 4, 1922 in Postville, daughter of Ella Meyer Gordanier and Horace Phillip Gordanier. She passed away December 22, 1959 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

She was baptized in St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church on January 8, 1923. She attended Lybrand School for her first six years, then transferred to Postville Public School, where she graduated in 1941. From 1942-1943 she attended Hamilton Business college in Mason City.

After graduation she was employed by the Falb Motor Company in Postville, where she worked for the past 17 years. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and a charter member of the Business and Professional Women's club.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Ella Meyer Gordanier and Horace Phillip Gordanier. Her survivors are a step mother, Mrs. Sarah Gordanier; one brother, Howard of Postville; three sisters, Bernice, Mrs. Frances McCaffrey, of San Fernando, California; Murtis, Mrs. Andrew C. Smith of Waterloo; and Violet, Mrs. Robert Sherburne of Cedar Falls; six nieces and two nephews, Mary Beth and Patricia McCaffrey, Beth and Hope Gordanier, Craig and Karen Smith and Steven and Linda Sherburne.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, on Saturday, December 26, at 1:30 p.m.

Burial was at the Postville Cemetery with the Rev. Charles E. Witt, officiating.
