Funeral services for little Marjorie Lou Henry, 17 months-old baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Henry, were held Saturday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s church, Lycurgus. Marjorie Lou’s death, which was recorded briefly in last week’s issue of the Democrat, occurred as the result of drowning. She was playing in the farm yard, and when out of her mother’s sight for a few minutes, presumably climbed upon a low platform near the wind-mill, then lost her balance and toppled into the adjacant water tank. Mrs. Henry found the tiny body of her daughter floating in the tank of water, which was about three feet deep, not more than five minutes after the baby fell into it. There was still life contained within the body but resuscitation efforts continued for more than an hour by a doctor were powerless to keep same from slowly ebbing away.
Marjorie Lou was born February 28, 1933 and lived all her brief span of life on a farm in Makee township, four and one-half miles northeast of Waukon. She is survived by two sisters, Rose Ann, five, and Catherine Mary, four, besides her grief stricken parents.
Reverend P. H. McNamara read the mass of the angels at the funeral service attended by a large assemblage of sorrowing friends and relatives who came to pay tribute to the bright little lassie.
Four cousins Emmett and Clarence Henry, and Leslie and Milton Duffy were pallbearers. The flowerbearers were also cousins, namely: Evelyn and Florence Walker and Donna Mae and Monica Henry.
Interment was in the cemetery adjoining the church.
