GEORGE S. JACKSON 1852-1900

At Madison, S.D., Thursday Oct. 25th, 1900, George S. Jackson, aged 48 years, 3 months and 10 days, of asthma.

He was born at Westford, N. Y., July 17, 1852. He came with his parents to Prairie du Chein in 1860, and the next year they moved to Harpers Ferry which had been his home since.

He was married to Anna Belle Stall October 21, 1875, and to them five children were born, one of whom, Grace, the second child, died twenty years ago when three years old. Carl, Milan, Florence, Luella, and Mrs. Jackson are left to mourn the loss of an affectionate husband and father.

He went to Madison to obtain relief for his malady of long standing by an operation, but release from suffering came in another way. He has many friends, and was one of the most cheerful, hopeful dispositions, with a pleasant greeting and smile for all.

The body was received at Waukon and funeral services held at the Oakland cemetery Monday, conducted by Rev. R. L. Vannice.

Waukon Standard, 11/1/1900 - contributed by Nancy Geitgey

Note: Anna Belle's maiden name was STOTT rather than STALL
