CHARLES FREDERICK KROGMAN 1875-1946

Chas. Krogman, 71, Passes On Monday

Charles F. Krogman, 71, retired carpenter, and resident of Postville for 65 years, passed away suddenly Monday evening. He had been in apparently good health and was visiting with friends at the city park when he passed away.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock in the Schutte Funeral Home and interment will be in Postville cemetery.

Charles Frederick Krogman, son of Carl J. and Mary C. Schroeder Krogman, was born in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany, February 2, 1875. He accompanied his parents to this country in 1881 when he was six years old and spent the remainder of his life as a resident of this community. A carpenter by trade, he went into retirement a few years ago.

Mr. Krogman was united in marriage with Miss Mary Sophia Reincke of Clayton county on October 16, 1902, by the late Rev. E. Bockelmann, then pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, of which the deceased was a member since 1889. To this union two children were born, both of whom are living.

The surviving family includes his wife, a daughter, Hazel, Mrs. Albert Bareis, of Washington, Ill., a son, Harvey Krogman, of St. Joseph, Mo., two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John W. Powell of Postville and Mrs. Adolph Foels of Waseca, Minn., and numerous other relatives and friends.

His parents, a brother, William, and a sister, Mattie, Mrs. Herman Evert, preceded him in death.
