DIED. At her residence in Postville, Nov. 10, 1888, Mrs. Mary LAIRD in her seventy-third year. Deceased was a native of Scotland and came to Iowa at an early day. Thus closes a long and useful career. Rev. THRUSH in conducting the funeral service at the Congregational church, in a brief discourse, showed that the great objuct of a Christian life was to learn to live truthfully as well as to die peacefully. Mrs. LAIRD was a devoted bible student, conscientious and faithful in the discharge of duty.
