JOHN D. LAWSON

John D. Lawson was born in Ohio, Oct. 24, 1826, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jake Ewing in Post township, March 24, 1913.

In 1847 he was married to Sarah Chambers at Huntley, Ill. Eight years later they came to Iowa, arriving here June 1, 1855. They settled at Cleveland, where they lived 22 years, after which they moved to the farm where they lived until the death of his wife three years ago. He continued to live here with his son Henry until six months ago, since which time he has lived with his daughter.

Seven of the children born to this union are living -- Mrs. Alice Ewing, Mrs. Ophelia Vickery, Will, Mrs. Martha Fuller and Henry of this locality, and James and Mrs. Will White of Frederic, Okla., who with 44 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a large number of friends are left to mourn his death.

The funeral was held from the home of his son Henry at one o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Hush, pastor of the Castalia U. B. church, officiating. Interment in Evergreen cemetery.
