PRELETTE P. McGOON

The late Prelette P. McGoon was born at Sheboygan, Wis., September 24, 1850 and passed away at the home of his eldest son, in Monona, Iowa, on January 13th, 1924, at ten minutes after twelve o'clock. He was seventy-three years, three months and nineteen days of age at the time of his death. His father's family moved to Iowa when the deceased was but a mere boy. They eventually settled on a farm near Buckland, where Mr. McGoon was reared to manhood by his parents who emphasized the value of good habits in every day living and giving of this life for the service and happiness of those whom we come in contact with. This teaching was reflected in the life of the deceased. He was the sixth child of a family of nine children, three of which survive, namely: John of Fargo, N. D.; Simon of Fargo, N. D.; and William of Missouri.

In 1869 he was united in marriage with Sophrona Rose Thomas. Four children were born of this union, two sons and two daughters; the mother and daughters, Abbie and Estella, preceded him in death. He is survived by his two sons Gifford J. of Monona and Charles D. of Marengo, Iowa and seven grandchildren. The father has lived with his eldest son, Gifford, for the past sixteen years, where every attention has been given to render his declining years both carefree and contented. Here he has always been near to the scenes of his boyhood and among those he loved and knew so well.

Interment will be made in the Monona Cemetery. The funeral was held yesterday at three o'clock.
