JOHN McLAUGHLIN DIED IN CHICAGO

- The body of John McLaughlin, 73, arrived here Sunday from Chicago, where his death occurred Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Earl Hill. It will be at the Bakke-Hanson funeral home until Wednesday morning when services will be conducted at St. Mary's church, Hanover township, by the pastor, Fr. Joseph E. Krockeski. Burial will follow in the nearby cemetery.

Mr. McLaughlin was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William McLaughlin, early settlers in Hanover township, where he was born October 1, 1875.* He grew to manhood and for many years engaged in farming in that township. His wife, the former Mary O'Meara, died in 1924. Eight** children were born to this marriage, four of whom are living, namely, Donald and Mrs. Earl Hill (Genevieve), Chicago; Mrs. Mary Olson, Las Vegas, New Mexico; Ralph and James, Los Angeles, California. There are two sisters, Margaret and Josephine McLaughlin, Minneapolis. Three years ago Mr. McLaughlin went to Chicago to live with his daughter.

McLaughlin Funeral Held Today

Funeral services were held this (Wednesday) morning from the Bakke & Hanson funeral parlors, Waukon to St. Mary's Church, Hanover for John McLaughlin, well known resident of this vicinity. Requiem Mass celebrated by the pastor, the Rev. Krosheski, and burial was made in the family lot in the nearby cemetery.

The death of Mr. McLaughlin occurred at the home of his daughter in Chicago where he had been cared for the past few years.

He was born Oct. 1, 1875 on a farm north of Waukon, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William McLaughlin, pioneer residents of Hanover township. Following his marriage to Mary O'Meara of Hanover they established their home on a farm north of Waukon. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Earl Hill of Chicago with whom he made his home of late, and Mrs. Wm. Olon, of Los Vegas, New Mexico. There are three sons, James residing near Phoenix, Arizona, Donald of Chicago, and Ralph of Beverly Hills, Calif. He is also survived by two sisters, the Misses Josie and Margaret McLaughlin, both of Minneapolis. There are 13 grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death 23 years ago and two sisters, Katherine McLaughlin of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Will Collins of Waukon died a short while ago.

All of the children with the exception of Ralph were in attendance at the funeral.
