Mrs. GEORGE J. (Christine Mary Sheehy) MEIER

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 28 at St. Bridget Catholic Church for Mrs. George J. Meier, who died at Community Memorial Hospital on Saturday, November 25, 1972. The Rev. Donald Kruse officiated.

Christine Mary Sheehy was born at Postville, Iowa on October 26, 1888, the daughter of John and Anna Sheehy.

She was a lifelong resident of the Postville community, received her education here and graduated from the Postville High School. She taught in the country schools of the area for several years.

On April 29, 1914, she was married to George J. Meier and together they operated a grocery store until his death in 1944.

To this union were born a son, George E. Meier, Jr., and a daughter Betty (Mrs. Loren Meyer), both of who survive. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Loretta Abernethy and five grandchildren, Mary Beth Meyer and Deborah Meyer of Rochester, Minnesota, Mrs. Stephen (Patricia) Fascher of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Lt. Patrick Meier of Tacoma, Washington and Marcia Meier of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Also one great-granddaughter, Stephanie Kristine Fascher.

Burial in the Postville Cemetery.
