Elta Kuhse

Funeral services for Elta E. Kuhse were held Thursday, Jan. 28, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Elta Edna Kuhse, daughter of John and Anna (Reincke) Saueresig, was born Nov. 6, 1896 at Postville, Iowa. She died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1988 in the Klein Nursing Home at Burlington.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She attended the Postville School. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and had been a member of the Froelich U and I Club and the Postville Home and Garden Club.

November 25, 1915 she married William John Kuhse at Postville. The couple had 2 daughters. They lived in the Ossian, Luana, Froelich, Monona and Postville areas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 5 sisters, Meta, Lucille, Helen, Alma and Florence and 2 brothers, Edwin and Harold.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Elnora Overbeck, Murphys, CA and Iva Jean Coobs, Burlington, Ia.; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Theresa Saueresig, Decorah.

Casket bearers were Robert Hilgerson, Roger Kuhse, Willard A. Meyer, Cloy Kuhse, Kenneth F. Meyer and LeRoy Odem.
