OLDEST HARPERS FERRY RESIDENT DIES

Anna Rafter, oldest resident of Harpers Ferry, died at her home early Friday morning following an illness of nearly two years.

She was born on a farm near Harpers Ferry Sept. 1, 1863, a daughter of the late Mathew And Catherine McCabe Rafter.

She received her education in the Harpers Ferry school. Later moving here where she was engaged as a seamstress and operated a millinery shop for many years.

Survivors are three sisters, Mrs J. J. Hawes, and Alice Rafter, both of Harpers Ferry and Mrs Elizabeth Nicholson of Minneapolis. Besides her parents, one brother and two sisters preceeded her in death.

Funeral services were held from St. Ann's Catholic Church Monday at 9 am with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery Rev. R. L. Palen was in charge of the services.
