Robert "Bob" Brainard, 58, of Milton, Fla., died February 15, at his residence. He was a native of Postville, and had resided in Florida since 1977. He was retired from the United States Navy and also retired from the Department of Corrections, State of Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Elfie Brainard; one son, Paul Abernethey; two daughters, Laura (Paul) Campbell and Christa (Mike) Collins; two step-daughters, Melanie (Chris) Defresse and Stephanie Long; two sisters, Callie (Ken) Marek, and Dixie Koopman; two brothers, Chuck (Marsha) Brainard, and Kent Brainard; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Carl Brainard, his mother Delpha Brainard, and one sister Carlene Brainard.
Funeral services were at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, from the funeral home with Pastor Ron Christian officiating. Burial and full U.S. Navy Military Honors were conducted at Barrancas National Cemetery.
