Rites Are Held For Mrs. Schutte
Huldah Schutte was born in Elgin, on March 28, 1885, and passed away on April 22, 1959, at the Postville Hospital, after several weeks of illness. She reached the age of 74 years and 25 days.
On February 17, 1904, she was married to Alfred Miller of Clermont. Sixteen years later, on February 29, 1920, her husband, Alfred passed away.
On June 29, 1922, she was united in marriage to Louis Schutte of Postville; and to this union was born one son, Paul.
Huldah Schutte was baptized by the Rev. R. J. Hack on May 12, 1897 and became a member of the First Baptist Church, Elgin, where her membership remained until death. For many years she sang in the church choir and participated in the Woman's Missionary Society as long as health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred; her parents, Jacob and Rosina Hoefer; two sisters: Mrs. Lena Peters and Mrs. Mary Gruver; and one brother, Simon Hoefer.
The survivors that mourn her passing are her husband, Louis Schutte; one son, Paul; one step-son, Willard, all of Postville; one sister, Mrs. Louise Miller, Clermont; six grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends in the Elgin, Clermont and Postville communities.
A brief service at the Schutte Funeral Home was conducted by the Rev. C. E. Witt on Sunday afternoon, April 26. The funeral service was held in the First Baptist Church, Elgin, Monday, April 27, at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Eldon G. Schroeder officiated; assisted by the Rev C. E. Witt. Interment was at the Clermont cemetery.
