Rites Held For Mrs. C. Searls

Mrs. Cluett C. Searls, nee Leona M. Collier, the daughter of Thomas and Anna Collier, Pioneer residents of Clear Lake, Iowa, was born April 21, 1896, in Clear Lake. She passed away at her home in Postville on Tuesday, November 5, 1963, at the age of 67 years, five months and 14 days.

On February 22, 1920, Leona M. Collier was married to Cluett C. Searls at Clear Lake, Iowa.

Mrs. Searls is survived by her husband; one daughter, Joan, Mrs. Keith Irwin of St. Petersburg, Florida; two sons, Dr. James C. Searls of Iowa City, and Richard M. Searls of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren and one sister, Miss Thora Collier of Waterloo.

Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Searls moved to Postville on August 28, 1933, having lived at Clear Lake, and Algona, Iowa and Mitchell, South Dakota.

Mrs. Searls was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church which she joined on April 19, 1946.

Funeral services were conducted at the Schutte Funeral Home on Thursday at noon with the Rev. Walter T. Martin in charge of the rites. Burial was in the family plot at the Clear Lake, cemetery.
