Mrs. BERT (Edna Ammons) SIMPSON 1894-1957

Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock for Mrs. Bert Simpson, 62, of Osage, who died of a heart attack at her home Monday night. The Rev. Hugh Wright, pastor of the Baptist church was in charge of the services. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.

Edna Ammons was born at Ainsworth, Nebraska, December 14, 1894, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Ammons. She moved with her parents to Postville when she was a small child and received her education in the schools there. Later she taught in the rural schools of Allamakee county for 10 years.

She was married to Bert Simpson November 30, 1921. They established their home in Mitchell county, living on the farm of his parents east of Orchard for 12 years. They moved to Osage in 1934. Mrs. Simpson was active in various capacities in the Baptist church, serving for many years as a Sunday school teacher and in the Ladies' Guild of the church. She was an active member and past-president of the Flora May Tuttle Naturalist club and the WRC Thimble Bee. Her work with American Legion Auxiliary included the officers of president, secretary, historian for several years up to the present, and assisting with poppy sales for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Bert, a brother, Harvey Ammons and two nephews and three nieces, all of Osage. Her parents and one brother preceded her in death.
