Mrs. John L. (Eileen M. Winter ) Smith 1929-1996

Eileen Madalen Winter was born May 20, 1929 in Minnesota, the second daughter of Alfred and Olivia Roelike Winter. She died of cancer February 13, 1996 at her home in Chandler, Arizona.

She moved with her family to Postville in 1939 and graduated from Postville High School in 1947.

She was married to John L. Smith of Biloxi, Miss. in Rapid City, S. D. in 1950. He died in 1984. She had been residing in Chandler, Ariz. since 1963.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and an infant daughter, Theresa Marie. She is survived by four sons, Jeff, Kevin and Eric Smith of Chandler and Alan Smith of Bakersfield, Calif; three brothers, Eldred and Ethel Winter of Placerville, Calif., Marvin and Janet Winter of Postville, and Eugene Winter of Cedar Rapids; four sisters, Doris Usher of Brighton, Colo., Ione Burnett of St. Louis, Mo., Gloria and Larry Mason of Mason City and Carol and Allen Stahr of West Union, eight nieces and ten nephews. A funeral mass was held Friday, February 16, 1996 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Chandler, Ariz.
