EVELYN RUTH SNITKER 1929-1946

Evelyn Ruth Snitker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Snitker of Ludlow township, passed away Friday morning at 4:30 o'clock at St. Mary's hospital in Rochester, where she had been a patient since last December. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in Salem Reformed church in Ludlow, with the Rev. Edmond DeBuhr officiating, and interment was in the cemetery nearby.

Pallbearers were Junior Snitker, Roger Snitker, Marvin Snitker, Dale Hesse, Calvin Bechtel and Harlan Stuckman. Flower girls were Bernice Larson, Rita Snitker, Bernice Giving, Marion Hesse, Doris Walby and Gertrude Henning.

Evelyn was born on June 12, 1929, in Ludlow township. She was baptized in the Salem Reformed church and in her childhood attended the public schools of that vicinity. She was confirmed Palm Sunday, April 18, 1943, and in the fall of that year entered Waukon high school as a freshman.

Last November she was taken ill and removed to the Rochester hospital where her condition became more serious and except for one brief interval she was confined to her room for ten months. Evelyn was a member of the Salem church choir and Sunday School, and also of the girls' glee club in her high school. She had a friendly disposition and won for herself many lasting friends.

She is survived by her parents, three brothers, Calvin, Bernard and Nathan, all at home, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Snitker of Postville, and Mr. and Mrs. David Flage of Waukon, her fiance, Roger Grotegut, and a host of friends and relatives.
