Mrs. ELMER (Emma L. Bechtel) SNITKER 1894-1980

Funeral services were held for Emma L. Snitker, 86, at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1980 at Zalmona Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Robert Lueck officiated, with burial in the Zalmona Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Emma Bechtel, daughter of Fred and Amelia (Grotegut) Bechtel, was born Nov. 8, 1894 in rural Winneshiek County, Iowa. She was married to Elmer Snitker January 3, 1912. He died in 1971.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Zalmona Presbyterian Church for over 55 years, serving actively in the church's UPW for many years and the Sarah Missionary Circle until the time of her death, Monday, Nov. 24.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Anna, Clara and Alvina; three brothers: Ben, Martin and Art; and a son Robert. Surviving her are children, Lawrence, Irvin and Mrs. Arlene Deeny of Waukon; Mrs. Robert (Gertrude) Hangartner and Merlin of Postville; Mrs. Robert (Marion) Wirkler of Monona; Ben and James of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Don (Shirley) Johnson of Decorah; Walter of Abilene, Kans.; a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Esther) Hesse, Postville; 47 grandchildren; and 69 great-grandchildren.
