Died, at his home, near Postville, on Friday, Aug. 25th, 1863 [sic, should be 1893], of consumption, John SNYDER, aged sixty-seven years. John SNYDER was born in Germany in 1826. He has resided on a farm in this vicinity for about 20 years. He was a member of the German Lutheran church. He leaves a family of 8 children, 5 girls and 3 boys, and numerous friends to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held from the home on last Saturday, conducted by Rev. GASS, after which the remains were laid to rest by the side of his wife in the cemetery at Eldorado. Thus another old settler has passed beyond the divide, and is now numbered with the legion on the other side. May the survivors in this hour of affliction be reconciled to their fate, for death is but the common lot of all there is of life. To the relatives and friends we extend our sympathy and may they find sweet consolation in recalling to mind the many acts of kindness and noble deeds done by the departed spirit while habitating its house of clay. Rest to his ashes, peace to his soul.
