On Saturday night of last week about 10 o'clock, Mrs. Maria Sparks, who has been stopping at the National Hotel, in Postville, for about 3 weeks past, died of quick consumption, leaving one child, about 3 months old. Her husband lives at Garnavillo, Clayton Co., IA only twenty miles away. He has not been to see her since she has been sick, although he has known of her illness. He has left her to the mercies of the people. Infinitely contemptible is such a man.
