William Ludwig Meyer

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon for W. L. Meyer, 63, at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig officiating. Mr. Meyer passed away suddenly Monday near his farm north of Postville.

William Ludwig Meyer, son of Fred J. Meyer and Charlotte Schroeder Meyer, was born June 28,1885 at Castalia and departed this life suddenly March 28, 1949, near his farm in Winneshiek county, age 63 years.

Mr. Meyer was received into active membership in the Lutheran Church on March 26, 1899.

Mr. Meyer was united in marriage with Mathilda Sebastian of Postville on February 22, 1910 by the late Pastor R. Kuehne. To this union three children were born, all of whom survive the passing of their father.

Mr. Meyer spent his entire life as a resident of the Postville community. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Meyer established their home on a farm about two miles northeast of Postville. Later the family home was established on a farm north of Postville where Mr. and Mrs. Meyer resided until their retirement to Postville in 1942. The deceased was well and favorably know throughout the community.

Left to mourn his passing are his widow: three daughters: Vella, Mrs. Leon Birdsell, of Monona; Irene, Mrs. Darwin F. Rounds, of Monona, and Eileen, Mrs. Gordon Schultz, of Monona; three grandchildren; two brothers: Henry Meyer of Postville and Edward Meyer of Castalia; three sisters: Mary, Mrs. Ed Schlee, of Postville; Ella, Mrs. Elmer Hoth, of Postville, and Helen, Mrs. Paul Koevenig of Cedar Rapids; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Fred, Chris, and Louis.
