Mrs. LAFE (Daisy Miriam Marston) TAGUE 1895-1972

Services were held December 12 in Kirkwood, Missouri for Mrs. Lafe F. Tague, who died Saturday, December 9, [1972] at home. Daisy Miriam Marston was born December 26, 1895, the daughter of Arthur and Jennie [Carithers] Marston. She graduated from Postville high school and received her Bachelors degree from Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa. Her first year of teaching was in Correctionville. During this year she coached the first state championship girls basketball team. In March, 1972, she was inducted into the Iowa Hall of Fame as a superior Iowa coach for girls basketball. On July 12, 1922 she was married to Lafe F. Tague in the garden of the Marston farm home at Postville. Their fiftieth wedding anniversary was celebrated this summer. The couple returned to Postville in 1932 and resided on the family farm until 1944 when they moved to Cedar Rapids. In 1961 they moved to Kirkwood, Missouri where they lived until her death. Mrs. Tague was a member of Chapter IN, PEO Sisterhood, Kirkwood, Missouri; OES Chapter 238, Postville and Faith Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood. She was preceded in death by her brothers Euclid and Jay and sisters Violet and Vera. Surviving are her husband, Lafe, two daughters, Mrs. Faraday (Elaine) Strock of Pontiac, Illinois and Mrs. Arne (Marilyn) Carlson of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.
