Wilbert Frederick Wilke

Funeral services for Wilbert Frederick Wilke were held at 10:30 a.m. December 18 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Rev. Norris C. Swenson officiated.

Wilbert Frederick Wilke, son of Henry and C. Elizabeth (Ziegler) Wilke, was born April 25, 1894 in Post Township, Allamakee County and died December 14, 1978 in Postville.

He attended the Empire and Woodland schools north of Postville. December 29, 1917, he was united in marriage to Anna Miller. To this union a daughter, Geneva, was born. They farmed north of Postville until December 1935, when they moved to Postville.

He was baptized December 30, 1894 and was confirmed April 12, 1908. He was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Postville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In addition to his wife, Anna, he is survived by his daughter, Geneva (Mrs. Glen Rice) of Waukon; one grandson, Donald Rice, Iowa City; and one sister, Mrs. Mabel Meyer, Postville. Schutte Funeral Home in Postville handled the arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
