Mrs. John Waters Rites Are Held Here Saturday

Funeral services are held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church for Mrs. John Waters, 89, who passed away at Waukon hospital December 19 following a lingering illness. Mrs. Waters was a resident of Allamakee county her entire life.

The rites were conducted by Rev. Walter T. Martin. Burial was in Postville Cemetery.

Millie Early, daughter of Moses and Susannah Patterson Early, was born September 16, 1862 in Allamakee county, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, December 19, 1951 at the Waukon hospital at the age of 89 years.

She taught school in Allamakee county for a number of years. Millie Early was married to John Waters on February 4, 1885. To this union one son Earle was born. John Waters died July 8, 1934. Earle died in infancy.

Mrs. Waters united with the Bethel O. B. Church when a young girl. She became a member of the Community Presbyterian Church of Postville, on January 7, 1923 and on February 7, 1932 she was ordained an elder in the Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Diamond Club in the Presbyterian Church and reigned queen for one year. She belonged to P.E.O. sisterhood of Postville.

Surviving is Mrs. Thomas Vickery of Waukon, a great niece.

Mrs. Waters lived her entire life in Allamakee county serving civic and religious organizations with loyalty, fidelity and graciousness.
