John P. Walsh's death is the first St. Josephs's branch R.C.M. P.S. of this city has experienced since its organization in 1879 with a membership ranging all the way from ten to thirty-two at present. The former succumbed to consumpution at his home in this township Thursday last after an illness of over two years aged about thirty five. With the exception of a few years residence in Austin, MN, deceased has lived all his life in this township following school teaching most of the time and was respected highly by a very large circle of acquaintances in his own and neighboring townships. This was attested at the funeral Saturday morning by a cortege of eighty-six teams. He was buried beside his parents in Lycurgus Cemetery after a Requiem high mass by Father Barry and a short sermon by Father Haxmeir of this city. Fortunately for the widow and six little orphans John was a member of St. Josephs branch of the R.C.M. Protective Society of Iowa. which insures them an endowment of between seventeen and eighteen hundred dollars. At the request of the bereaved thanks are hereby tendered to one and all for the man acts of kindness rendered during the sickness, death and burial of the beloved husband and father.
